Our Clients & Projects

Borders Forest Trust

One of our main clients, we have had a working relationship with Borders Forest Trust (BFT) for two decades. We have planted around 700,000 native trees for them in this time and our intention is to add to this tally on a yearly basis.

More than just tree planting, we have taken on projects with BFT such as cabin building, tree surgery, site maintenance and course instructing. Sites we have been privileged to work on include Corehead, Carrifran, Gameshope, Talla Bank and the Ettrick Valley.

We strongly believe in the rewilding cause BFT promote and are proud to have been a part of their journey over the years. Anyone who has seen the work they and their dedicated volunteers have completed over the years, especially at Carrifran Wildwood, can't help but be impressed by the vision and commitment of BFT and their supporters.

National Trust for Scotland

We have worked for the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) as montane tree planters on two major sites, Ben Lawers and the Mar Lodge Estate.

Our most recent NTS project on Mar Lodge Estate was to reinstate indigenous montane tree species at altitudes often exceeding 800 metres. Weather conditions and terrain provided us with quite a few challenges, however the team loved every minute of their time there. The Mar Lodge area has some of the most stunning scenery in Scotland and it was a privilege to work on the estate and to witness the fine work being done by the local ecologists and land managers.

Forestry & Land Scotland

Bennan, Dumfries & Galloway

In 2015, we started a pioneering project for Forestry and Land Scotland (at that time the Forestry Commission). Bennan was to be the project site; a broad summit to the south of Merrick with outstanding views overlooking Loch Trool. Aimed at reintroducing treeline and montane woodland on a site without native tree cover - a scene typical of the Galloway hills in general - this project would look to establish a natural distribution of Aspen, Birch and Rowan below the treeline and, at higher altitudes in the montane zone, Downy Willow and Juniper. The initial planting of 40000 trees was a great success and led us to work closely with the Commission on an extended project that would span more than 2 years and see us plant over 200,000 trees. A highlight of the project was our feature on an episode of BBC Countryfile with James, Jim and Gordon (the latter two now retired), planting Downy Willow with Anita Rani; memorable because of the atrocious rain, but great fun nevertheless.
