Phase 1 Planting Map

Bennan

During 2015 Treesurv won the Forestry Commission contract to plant new native woodland on the slopes of Bennan, A small hill nestled in the heart of Glen Trool Forest with an incredible view over Loch Trool. On a good day you can gaze upon both the Lake District and Ireland if the weather is right. We have been tasked with planting these craggy peaks with a montane mixture of Juniper and Downy Willow (salix lapponum) whilst the other sections of the hill are to be covered in a tree line mixture of Birch, Rowan and Aspen. On the lower slopes, clear felled areas area to be replanted with Oak woodland.

At Treesurv, we relish a project like this as it is the embodiment of our goals to not only establish native woodland throughout Scotland but to help preserve the wonderful diversity of trees in the area.
